This festival, held July 6 to July 10 in Wellington, Kansas, is packed with activities the entire family will enjoy. You will not want to miss one day of excitement at this popular Kansas festival.
The Wheat Festival is a long-standing tradition in the Sunflower State. This festival first began in 1900 and takes place each year in Wellington, the county seat of Sumner County.
Fun Fact of the Day: Sumner County is known as the Wheat Capital of the World. The county earned this title by regularly producing more wheat than anywhere else around the globe.
While the list of events you’ll want to attend is long, there are several activities that you definitely will not want to miss.
The annual parade is a favorite event for adults and children alike. The parade’s theme for 2021 is “Traveling Through the Decades” and it will take place Friday, July 9, at 8:00 p.m.
If you love to bake, make sure to check out the Baker’s Bonanza at this year’s festival. This event features submissions of homemade goodies including bread, cookies, cakes, and pies.
