For people who love to spend time in Iowa’s beautiful parks, lounging on our beaches, and enjoying our many beautiful lakes, it can be fun to visit someplace new. This gorgeous Iowa lake is a wonderful representation of everything this great state has to offer. It’ll make your summer day perfect.
It's in southwest Iowa, about an hour's drive west of Des Moines on Interstate 80.
There's a youth group site, 52 standard electric sites, 68 standard non-electric sites, and 40 standard full hook-up sites. If you want to reserve a spot, it's a good idea to do so two days in advance of your planned camping trip. Some sites are available only on a first come first served basis, as well.

It's a no-wake lake that's well-known for fishing. It's stocked with crappies, bluegill, and largemouth bass. Concrete ramps make boat access easy.

There's a small town grocery store nearby, just five miles away. Picnic tables and ample shade create a relaxing environment.
Wildlife are plentiful here, including deer, turkey, various native bird species.

The lake was formed by creating a dam on part of the Nishnabotna River.
You can operate any sized boat motor, but be sure to keep it at no-wake speeds. There's even dock space for pontoon boats for rent through the park office.

Two modern restroom and shower buildings are available for visitors' use.
A one-mile nature trail and four-mile trail that goes around the entire lake makes this a great place for hiking and biking.
