Stone State Park is located in Sioux City, right on the banks of the Big Sioux River. The 1,089-acre state park is a quiet little oasis right near the city.
Stone State Park is the perfect place for some solitude and quiet reflection. There are plenty of spots for a picnic, and lots of areas where you can simply relax and unwind.
The Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center is a must-visit while you're here. The address of the center is 4500 Sioux River Rd., Sioux City, IA 51109, and it's open six days a week. Visit Tuesday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; closed Monday.
Not ready to go home yet? Stay overnight in one of three cozy cabins. Each one is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including heating and A/C, dining table and chairs, a small refrigerator, and microwave.
