The restaurant has a long history. In 1966, Bill “Smitty” Smith noticed a restaurant for sale across the street from his gas station. His tenderloin shop was born. In 1983, Greg, Bill’s son, and his wife, Cheri took over the family business and moved it six blocks, to the present location.
You can find a lot of delicious things on the menu, including this Oreo and Butterfinger shake. But be careful: you will need to save some room for the main act.
You may never make it past the tenderloin, but diners give Smitty’s high marks on all the food, including the hamburgers and fish sandwiches. Stop in and see if you agree that the tenderloin is king! While Iowa’s tenderloins are tops, there are many other delicious things to devour in the Hawkeye state. Here’s where to find the very best wings.
