There’s A Small Town In Iowa Known For Its Truly Epic Burgers
Jefferson has just under 4,500 residents. It’s in west-central Iowa and their home-town restaurant, Doc’s Stadium Bar & Grill, recently landed on the Top 10 Burgers in Iowa list. It’s on 113 N. Chestnut Street in Jefferson. It’s open Monday through Friday from 11 am until 1 pm and from 4 pm until 2 am. Saturday hours are 4 pm until 2 am.
You can do a lot to a hamburger to make it good. But a great burger doesn’t happen in the kitchen.

At Doc's Stadium Bar & Grill in Jefferson, getting the beef just right was a high priority for owners Amanda Burbank and Brett Cranston.

He even collaborated with the restaurant's owners to create their signature burger; the Carnivore.

In the spring of 2017, The Carnivore was nominated by the Iowa Beef Industry Council and Iowa Cattlemen's Association as one of the 10 finalists in Iowa's annual Best Burger contest.

It's a 1/3 pound patty of Moo Meat 90% lean ground beef, a couple of big strips of bacon, Swiss cheese, American cheese, and a sweet chili sauce created by Cranston. Once it's all put together, they go ahead and add one more 1/3 pound patty to the pile.

It's The Carnivore's little cousin, and it has just one burger plus all the fixins.

Of course, all of the food here is great. The menu is extensive with lots of tried-and-true "Iowa food" like tenderloins, wings, and all kinds of great sandwiches.

If you are anywhere near Jefferson, stop in and try their epic award winning burger and get a side of their amazing wings!
