A Super Fun Iowa Farm Crawl You Need To Do This Fall
There’s a free farm crawl event this weekend that’s open to the public in south Marion county and north Lucas county right here in Iowa.
You’ll see seven unique family farms in south-central Iowa, just one hour south of Des Moines.
You can visit the animals, tour the farms, sample locally grown and produced products (many of which are also for sale) and enjoy Iowa country life on a beautiful fall day!
You’ll get a chance to see Blue Gate Farm, Coyote Run Farm, Crooked Gap Farm, Pierce’s Pumpkin Patch, Schneider Orchard, White Breast Pottery, and the newest addition to this event: Trojan Iron Works.
This farm crawl event forms of loop, so you can enter the tour at any of the three entrance points on the loop if you’d like to stay on the best available roads.
Most intersections along the way have small signs directing visitors to the next farm.
Attendees should be prepared to drive themselves from farm-to-farm; no public transportation is provided.
For the safety of the animals who live at the farms participating in this open house, please leave pets at home.
This epic 7-farm crawl happens each year during the first weekend of October. This year, the hours are 11 am until 5 pm.
Farm owners will be on hand to answer questions.
Get an up-close and personal look at how some of our small family farms operate.
Some farms will have displays of antique equipment and collections.
Bring some cash if you think you may want to buy something.
Most farms will be sampling and selling their goods.
People who have been on this farm crawl in the past even bring coolers to safely store the meat they buy directly from the farms.
The weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend.
This is an Iowa event you won't want to miss.
