The Magical River Walk In Iowa That Will Transport You To Another World

One of the perks of living in eastern Iowa is being close to the Mississippi River. This historic body of water is so important to Iowans, and we really don’t take it for granted. While the Dubuque Riverwalk is one of the most famous riverwalks in the country, there’s a small town upstream that has a charming, enchanting riverwalk that’s so worth a visit.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here:

While you’re in Guttenberg, travel just a few miles north to McGregor to climb Pikes Peak, and take in a stunning view of the Mississippi River Valley! It might be the best overlook in Iowa. Read more about it here: The One State Park In Iowa That Stands Out From The Rest.

It’s easy to make a day trip out of both! Hike Pike’s Peak and then head south to Guttenberg for a stroll along the water and dinner at the Dam Riverview Sports Bar, where you’ll find Iowa hospitality and some fine food.
