Hamlin, Iowa is a tiny community of just about 150 residents. It’s the type of town where you know everyone – and their families, too. One Hamlin family has truly made a mark on the place, opening a restaurant in 1980 that would quickly become famous for serving the best tenderloin in Iowa.

Darrell Much had just handed down his farming business to his son when he and Marilyn decided to start their very own cafe in 1980.

At first, Darrell's Place was located in an old, historic bank. When word spread of the delicious food whipped up in this kitchen, they quickly outgrew the space and moved to their current location.
Today, the Munch family shares their passion for food with anyone who walks in the door. Darrell's Place is now owned by Darrell and Marilyn's son, Jeff, and his wife Diana.
