The famous Clint Eastwood movie,”The Bridges of Madison County,” first brought to light the absolutely beautiful bridges that Iowa has to offer. From pedestrian bridges to driving bridges, here are 12 gorgeous bridges in Iowa that you have to put on your summer to-see list.
1. The Pedestrian Bridge in Des Moines
The Pedestrian Bridge in downtown Des Moines a gorgeous place for an evening walk or bike ride over the Des Moines River.
2. High Trestle Bridge
The High Trestle Bridge in Madrid is a favorite spot for bikers, walkers and all people out enjoying the fresh air. It's especially beautiful at night, when it lights up.
3. Bridge over Gray's Lake
A summer day right at sunset is the perfect time walk across the bridge at Gray's Lake in Des Moines.
4. Davenport Skybridge
The Skybridge in Davenport is a gorgeous pedestrian bridge that gives you an unforgettable view. This bridge also lights up at night and it is absolutely beautiful.
5. The Waterloo Foot Bridge
This is a gorgeous place for an evening stroll in a scenic area.
6. Sutliff Bridge
This foggy Sutliff Bridge in Lisbon spans over the Cedar River and is a gorgeous sight.
7. Wagon Wheel Bridge
Wagon Wheel Bridge in Boone is the perfect place for a walk on a sunny afternoon, and while you're in the area, you can take a train ride over the High Bridge.

One of the bridges of Madison County, this beauty is located in Winterset. It is shown during the movie, "Bridges of Madison County," when Robert (Clint Eastwood) is looking for this bridge, and he meets Francesca (Meryl Streep). It's also shown in the film when the ashes are scattered at the bridge.
9. Imes Bridge
Another of the Bridges of Madison County, Imes Bridge is located in St. Charles, and was built in 1870.
10. Hogback Bridge
Another one of the famous bridges of Madison County, this one is Hogback Bridge in Winterset.
11. Cedar Bridge
Cedar Bridge is also located in Winterset, and was built in 1883. In 1993, Oprah Winfrey broadcast one of her shows from Cedar Bridge.
12. Holliwell Bridge
Holliwell Bridge in Winterset was shown in the movie, "Bridges of Madison County," when the pair (Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep) meets up after the visit to the town. If you have never seen the movie, I highly encourage you to check it out, and you will most definitely want to check out these bridges after you see it.
