The 10 Types Of People You’ll Meet In Iowa – Which One Are You?
Do you bleed black and yellow, or do you fight, fight, fight for Iowa State? Maybe you’re an outdoor enthusiast, or a 4-H’er? Check out our list of the 10 types of people in Iowa and find out for yourself which one you are!

1. The Iowa fan
These people bleed black and yellow. They are very stubborn and will defend Iowa to their death as the better team. They know how to have a good time, as you can tell by the U of I's ranking as the number one party school.
2. The Iowa State fan
These people bleed cardinal and gold. They are loyal sons forever true, who will fight the battle through. When they hit the line, they'll it it hard, every yard for I-S-U.
3. The person who went to UNI
Pretty much all of them are teachers now and when they go to the Cy-Hawk game, they wear Iowa shirts.
4. The Future Farmer of America
The infamous FFA member. These are the ones that will try to sell you fruit crates and can tell you about different types of fertilizers.
5. The 4-H'er
These people spend their summers showing their livestock at the county fair and the rest of the year preparing to show their livestock.
6. The farmer
The farmer, or the friendly farmer, is the one who will give you the finger wave as you drive past each other on your way into town, whether they know you or not.
7. The biker
This person owns a motorcycle and at least one piece of Harley Davidson apparel. These people are pretty common, as Iowa ranks the third highest in the country for motorcycle ownership.
8. The outdoor enthusiast
This is also a common person in Iowa. These people enjoy anything outdoors: fishing, hunting, hiking, bird watching, kayaking and more.
9. The regulars
These are your retired couples. You can always find them at their regular spot, drinking their morning coffee at Hy-Vee or having their usual dinner at the diner. These people are also common in Iowa, as the state was recently ranked the second best place to retire.
10. The nice person a.k.a the everyday Iowan
This is an all encompassing term for every person in Iowa. The everyday Iowan, whether they are living in a small town, big city or suburb. Whether they're single, married or have a family and whether they're working or retired. You will definitely have no trouble finding this type of person in Iowa, they're everywhere!
In the end, there is really only one type of Iowan, and that is: the awesome one.
