Iowa is a great place to live. We have a low cost of living, cheap housing and great education, but we also have a pretty healthy state! According to County Health Rankings & Roadmaps, these are the 10 healthiest counties in Iowa based on longevity of life, and quality of life. Do you live in one of the healthiest places in Iowa? The healthiest county in the state award goes to Mitchell County! Some of the cities in Mitchell County include Osage, St. Ansgar and Toeterville.
Number two on the list of healthiest counties is Chickasaw County. Some cities in the county are New Hampton, the county seat, as well as Nashua and Alta Vista.
Third on the list is Sioux County, home to Orange City, Sioux Center and Sheldon, to name a few places.
Winneshiek County is the fourth healthiest county in the state, and is home to cities such as Decorah, Calmar and Spillville.
Story County encompasses cities such as Ames, home of Iowa State University, as well as Nevada and Story City.
Lyon County is home to Rock Rapids, the City of Murals, Little Rock and George, to name a few places.
Johnson county encompasses cities such as Iowa City, home of the University of Iowa, as well as Coralville and North Liberty.
Cedar County is home to cities such as West Branch, Herbert Hoover's birthplace, Tipton and Lowden.
Plymouth County is home to Le Mars, the ice cream capital of the world, as well as Akron and Westfield.
Dallas County, number ten on the list of healthiest counties, is home to cities such as West Des Moines, Waukee and Dallas Center.
