I don’t know about you, but here in the Hoosier State, we definitely take our barbecue very seriously. There are so many amazing places to get BBQ in Indiana that it’s tough to choose just one for a meal, and honestly, I’m about to make this much more difficult by introducing you to a small-town suburb of Indianapolis that serves up world-famous smoky, juicy delights. The town of Westfield is home to several of the best BBQ restaurants in Indiana, a couple of which have been internationally recognized for their sheer awesomeness. Let’s take a closer look at two such places, both of which are worthy of a top spot on your “to-do barbecue” list. Westfield, Indiana, here we come!
Westfield, Indiana, is a small town just outside of Indianapolis with a surprising secret: it's home to some downright perfect barbecue.
As of the 2020 census, the population of Westfield is about 46,410, and I bet if you asked any one of those folks where you could find the best BBQ in Indiana, they'd point you to one (or both) of two places.
Big Hoffa's Smokehouse will probably be mentioned most frequently, and for excellent reasons.
It was featured on The Food Network and titled the "best barbecue in the Midwest", so it's got that going for it, which is nice. Good luck deciding what to get your first time; there's so much awesomeness jam-packed onto this menu that it's pretty tough to pick just one... or two... things.
Much like Big Hoffa's, it's famous for just how good it is. Indiana might not be the first state you think of when you think about BBQ, but maybe it ought to be.
The ribs at Ben's are fall-off-the-bone perfect. The brisket is never dry but always gobsmacking.
Sure, there are lots of awesome barbecue spots in the Hoosier State, but those simply aren't Big Hoffa's or Ben's BBQ Shack. They're good... but not THIS good.
Personally, I would suggest making a day trip out of it.
