Depending on where you live in the Hoosier State, you're already used to getting piles of snow, frigid temperatures, or both during the winter season. If you live down south, you generally experience more ice storms while snowstorms hit the north.
The Farmers' Almanac 2020 winter weather predictions for this upcoming cold season have mostly predicted more of the same for Indiana and the rest of Midwest along with the entire eastern two-thirds of the country.
The most frigid temperatures and heaviest snowfall of the season are predicted to hit the Northern Plains and Great Lakes regions, though it's anyone's guess if we'll see a white Christmas.
Like much of the Midwest and the eastern third of the country, Indiana is expected to get above-average snowfall this winter according to the Farmers' Almanac winter 2020 weather predictions. It may be difficult to predict exactly when it will fall as this season is forecast to be a Polar Coaster.
Just like much of the spring and summer, this winter's precipitation is predicted to be unpredictable, which means snowstorms could strike at any time. Experts are suggesting to expect a mix of sleet, ice, snow, and rain.
These winter 2020 weather predictions have also forecast colder than average temperatures for Indiana and the eastern two-thirds of the country. It will be most frigid during the last week of January 2020 into the beginning of February, so maybe plan a trip south during that time.
Whether you believe it or not, the Farmers' Almanac has been exact in their predictions a plethora of times, and their accuracy is at about 85 percent.
