There are some pretty unique and offbeat towns throughout Indiana, from this quirky arts haven to this incredible and historic community. There is, however, one little unique town that certainly stands apart from the rest, starting with just its name. Santa Claus, Indiana is unlike any other town in the world, and we’ll show you why.
Santa Claus, Indiana had pretty humble beginnings, without much differentiation from other towns. Formerly dubbed "Santa Fe," this town found a change of names was in order when the post office reported another established Santa Fe already existed in Indiana. The town residents met a few different times to vote on name choices, and Santa Claus, Indiana was born.
Thus, the Christmas theme (and later Holiday theme) came to life in Santa Claus. Santa statues can be found throughout the quirky town, including this large display dedicated to the children of the world.

In fact, the town's post office is the only one in the country with the name "Santa Claus." Every year, all letters that are mailed and addressed to Santa actually arrive at this post office and are answered by dozens of town volunteers.
