Indiana and the lost city of Atlantis may have more in common than you think. That’s because Indiana is home to a sunken city kind of like Atlantis. It’s true! Never heard of Monument City? You’ll have to take a look for yourself.
Monument City is a small town in Indiana quite unlike any other. This tiny town was abandoned in the 1960s when Indiana decided they needed to build the Salamonie Reservoir in order to prevent massive flooding.
While the reservoir did help solve the problem of flooding, it also put the former Monument City and its remaining structures completely underwater.
