This little state is grossly underrated if you ask us, and there are literally dozens (and dozens) of delightful little towns that are more than worthy of a getaway. Let’s take a closer look at one such place: a beautiful, small Hoosier town that definitely doesn’t get the credit it deserves. It’s a lil’ ol’ place known as Syracuse, and despite its small size it’s a powerhouse of fun, filled with all sorts of ways to kill some time and relax while you’re at it. Check it out!
Syracuse, Indiana, was laid out initially in 1837, which is the same year its Post Office officially opened.
For example, it's home to not one but two wonderful lakes: Lake Wawasee and Lake Syracuse. Both offer seemingly endless recreation opportunities, especially if you're into boating or fishing.
Get lost in the natural beauty of Indiana while hiking some of the famed trails that run through town, many of which invite hikers along for quite the adventure.
The well-kept and much-beloved Syracuse-Wawasee Trails vary in length and difficulty, and just about everyone will find something to love about them.
Restaurant and dining options are plenty; we recommend a stop at Chubbie's Pub & Grub for some good old-fashioned bar food, delicious steaks, and more.

You really cannot go wrong when it comes to dining in Syracuse; it's one of those hidden gem towns filled with all sorts of wonderful nosh spots you never knew existed.
Once you've had your fill, be sure to check out some of the best local attractions, such as the Syracuse Historical Museum (pictured below), the Blue Barn Berry Farm, and numerous small shops and galleries.
