The 1940s Soda Shop In Indiana Where You’ll Experience Old-Fashioned Dining

South Side Soda Shop has been in business since 1986 though the building it is in has been around much longer. This family-owned, 1950s-themed joint is timeless and extremely popular due to its feature on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives."
Most of this old-fashioned restaurant is situated in a building from the early 1900s that began as a store in 1910. A soda fountain was added in the 1940s, and in the 1980s, it was restored to what it is today.
Guests can also sit outdoors or enjoy an extra special seating area that was added in 1994. Enjoy a meal in an old vintage dining car that is perfect for any train lover.
Soups, salads, and sandwiches are the main menu items at this traditional, All-American diner. Everything is made fresh to order with enough on the plate that you'll definitely be full.
Menu items include Philly hoagies, croissant sandwiches, pitas, pasta, BLTs, pork tenderloins, cheeseburgers, crab cakes, and the South Side Soda Shop's award-winning chili. Sides include onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and fries, and you'll find drinks like coffee, tea, lemonade, milk, and pop.
The meals featured on Food Network were the Philly cheesesteak and seafood feast, which includes shrimp, clams, and mussels steamed with corn, potatoes, and seasoning. Each week, fresh salmon, clams, jumbo shrimp, and oysters are delivered to this restaurant, making their seafood some of the best in the area.
While you may not have time for it right after your meal, you can't leave this vintage eatery without ordering a dessert. The homemade baked goods here will blow your mind.
Choose from many different seasonal pies, cakes, cookies, whoopie pies, cheesecakes, and more. You'll also find ice cream treats like sundaes, shakes, malts, and other fun creations.
