Marktown, Indiana is a remarkable town for many reasons. This incredible town has been featured on Ripley's Believe It or Not and is one of the most unique towns in the country.
Marktown is known for being the only town in the country where you park on the sidewalks and walk in the streets. This entire neighborhood was also designed by famous architect Howard Van Doren Shaw in 1917. Original plans called for 28 sections, but only four were completed.

Marktown has also been nicknamed "Brigadoon." Due to its close proximity to industrial plants and a steel refinery, Markstown is often compared to Brigadoon, claiming it rises from the mists of the refineries every few years.
