As part of a vintage festival, there’s going to be an old-fashioned baseball game played in the town of French Lick, which is near the Hoosier National Forest in Southern Indiana. Whether you love baseball, history, or just unique experiences, you’ll definitely want to check out this event.
Take a step back in a time for a weekend of classic fun that is like nothing else you can find. Scroll on to learn all about it.
Vintage Weekend will take place September 14-16, 2018 at West Baden Springs Hotel in the town of French Lick. Guests will enjoy live music, food vendors, a vintage car show, tours, and much more.
While there are many traditional festival activities to enjoy, the main event is the old-fashioned baseball game that will be played both Saturday and Sunday.
Invented in 1839, baseball is the most All-American sport we have, but it hasn't always been played the same way. In this game, pitching will be underhanded, players in the field won't wear gloves, and there will be no fence to mark boundaries.
Guests can bring a blanket or lawn chair to watch the game. In addition to playing by different rules, players will also dress like they did in the 1800s and use similar lingo from that era.
Other than the game and other festivities, guests will also enjoy walking around the gorgeous grounds. French Lick Resort is home to two historic hotels, three golf courses, two spas, impressive meeting venues and a large casino.
Admission to this vintage baseball game is absolutely free. The first game on Saturday is at 11 a.m. with the last game beginning at 4 p.m. The first game on Sunday starts at 10 a.m. with the last game at 3 p.m. Come cheer on your favorite team.
West Baden Springs Hotel is located at 8538 W Baden Ave., West Baden Springs, IN 47469, and you can get more information on its website or Facebook page.
