If you were to ask someone what they think about when they think of “natural beauty,” or perhaps “bucket list items in nature,” a lot of them would probably answer “waterfalls!” at least once. Well, luckily for us in the Hoosier State, we don’t have to go far from any place to find those – we’ve got plenty peppered throughout the land we call home. Here are some of the absolute favorites – these are the most popular waterfalls in Indiana, in no particular order (okay, except maybe for #1; that one definitely belongs there).
Tunnel Falls is a waterfall on the Tunnel Falls to Lily Memorial Trail at Clifty Falls State Park. Keep in mind that this trail is open from May to October, so plan accordingly.

Thistlewaite Falls is a beautiful waterfall that just happens to be man-made, however, that doesn't stop folks from coming from all over to admire it. Like many of the waterfalls on this list, this one is best experienced shortly after a good, solid rain.

Spoiler alert: Tunnel Falls was by no means the only specific waterfall at Clifty Falls State Park to make this list. The hike to this waterfall is short and simple, at less than two miles in length. It's one of four named falls in the whole park, so make sure to explore a bit!

Turkey Run State Park is an incredible place with more than one stunning waterfall that attracts bunches of attention year after year. Honestly, you could take your pick of any of the awe-inspiring water features here like the Punch Bowl, the Ice Box, or, of course, literally any of the waterfalls.

The second generalized state park entry on this list is on it for good reason; McCormick's Creek State Park is home to some of the most photogenic waterfalls in the state! The most popular waterfall-oriented trail here at Indiana's first state park is Trail #3, however, don't let that limit you - there's a lot more to explore just about everywhere you turn here.

The trail leading to Anderson Falls near Hartsville is short and sweet at under one mile long. This waterfall is short and wide, which is excellent for photography and admiration alike. It's accessible year-round, and you can do some fishing here, too!

The third specific entry from Clifty Falls State Park to make this list is Big Clifty Falls. This one is a beautiful doozy! Though it's most impressive after a decent rain shower, this stunning waterfall is present for most of the year and becomes even more photogenic while frozen in the coldest months.

The waterfalls scattered throughout Salamonie River State Forest are all worthy of a round of applause - and a good visit or two. There are a few, however, one of the most photogenic is the one pictured on Kokiwanee Nature Preserve Trail.

Okay, this one certainly deserves its spot as #1, because there's nothing in the Hoosier State quite as breathtaking as Cataract Falls. Better still, it seems that no matter what time of year you see the falls, it's always a great time. It's awe-inspiring year-round, and well worth several visits to experience them all.
