Nestled in Noble County, Indiana, there rests a little state park that seems to go sadly underappreciated season after season. It’s beautiful, full of lush greenery, and it’s also home to several bodies of water, as the name would imply. Chain O’ Lakes State Park is literally full of lakes, and you’ve got to see them all. It’s a boaters’ paradise for sure, and hikers will love it, too.

Its proximity to a big city is very convenient and makes locating it easy. And you'll definitely want to locate it - and its 11 lakes.
Eight of those lakes are all interconnected, and as we mentioned, it's definitely a boaters' dream come true.

It's excellent for hikers as well, with more than 10 trails to choose from. But, really, the lakes are the stars of the show.
They are what are known as kettle lakes, which are formed by ice sheets in the process of receding.

The lakes are thought to be up to 2.5 million years old, and the surrounding landscape is lush, vibrant, and full of life.
Also available at the park are fishing (of course!), camping, and biking.

You can pitch a tent or rent any one of the adorable, cozy forest cabins on-site. Trust us, there's nothing quite like going to sleep in the middle of a beautiful state park, underneath a million and a half stars.
Wildlife is plentiful in the area, and folks who enjoy birdwatching will really love watching the various species that the lakes attract.

They're all a decently good depth, with the shallowest (Dock Lake) coming in at 20 feet deep, and the deepest (Bowen Lake) coming in at 65 feet deep. The lakes are open for boaters, and visitors can even rent canoes, rowboats, and paddleboats.
There's something special about both sunrises and sunsets over Chain O' Lakes State Park, and you'll certainly want to come for one and stay for the other.
