If a long winter indoors has you itching to get out and enjoy the gorgeous natural areas that Indiana has to offer, then check out Sugar Valley Canoe Trips.
Based out of Marshall, Indiana, this company offers many different kayak trips. They offer five various runs down this beautiful creek.
As you float down Sugar Creek, or as the Piankeshaw Native Americans called it, "Pungosecone," or "Water of Many Sugar Trees," you'll be able to relax into the beautiful scenery that surrounds you.
You'll paddle through Sugar Valley and stop at sand bars and hunt for fossils, or bring a picnic lunch to enjoy while lounging next to the water.
If you would enjoy a shorter trip, you can book the 3.5 mile Turkey Run tour.
This is one of the most popular tours, and the entire trip is only 1.5 hours long. This departs hourly from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. during the season, and you can explore two separate covered bridges.
Their longest trip is their 15 Mile Shades/Turkey Run Trip that visits three different covered bridges and two state parks.
You'll paddle through Turkey Run State Park, all the way through Shades State Park. It's a 5-7 hour float, and a fabulous way to spend the whole day on the creek. They also have three other kayaking trips available of varying lengths depending on how long you want to stay on the water!
Prices for these amazing kayak trips depend on the length of the tour you're going on.
They start at $17.00 for a single kayak, $24.00 for a tandem kayak, and $22.00 per canoe. There is a $5.00 fee for an extra person.
Be aware of changing water levels, as it can affect the difficulty of your trip.
If water levels rise too high, the tour organizers may put age restrictions on your group outing, or cancel the trip altogether.
If you want to head out on an adventure this summer with Sugar Valley Canoes, be sure to make reservations in advance.
The weekend trips book up the fastest, so as soon as you know when you'd like to go on your adventure, give them a call or book online.
