It wasn’t too long ago that I shared a piece with you on ten towns in Indiana that were perfect if you were looking to get away. As much as it might surprise you, I do read the comments you guys post. This is why I encourage and ask you to post them in just about every piece. Anyway, I decided to make a part two. This part two was not composed of my selections. Instead, I pulled ten towns suggested in the comments and included them. Here are ten towns YOU thought were perfect for a getaway.
Did you know Mitchell was the birthplace of the astronaut Gus Grissom? According to a recent census, this cozy town is home to fewer than 5,000 people. The Persimmon Festival is held every year in this town during the month of September.
Marengo is a small town that's home to fewer than 1,000 people. The town is known for being home of the Marengo Caves which are a beautiful natural attraction everyone in Indiana should see at least once. Did you know these caves were first discovered by two school children?
Brookville Lake is one of the more beautiful aspects of this town. According to a recent census, the town is home to roughly 2,500 people give or take. Interestingly enough, this has been the birthplace of A LOT of governors of Indiana as well as a governor of Kansas.
According to a recent census, this cozy town is home to roughly 1,600 people. This town is known for being the host of The Swiss Wine Festival every year.
Hope is a town that's very appealing to history buffs. The town’s passion for history is strongly reflected at the Yellow Trail Museum. An annual bike ride called Hope Ride takes place every year to raise money for local charities.
Cannelton is home to roughly 1,500 people. Did you know the post office in this town has been in operating since 1844? Talk about dedication! Cannelton Cotton Mill is a landmark and huge attraction for this particular town.
North Webster is a town home to roughly 1,100 people. The town is known for being home to the Mermaid Festival as well as The Dixie which is the oldest stern wheel paddle boat in Indiana. There are even a few bait and antique shops worth checking out.
Knightstown is home to 2,100 people and is located along the Big Blue River. This town is known for being a large filming spot for the 1986 movie Hoosiers. The town is also home to Royal Hylands which was recognized as one of the top 25 public golf courses in the state.
Hillsboro is a very small town that's home to fewer than 600 people. The town has been coined called “the home of happy people”.
