Dating is going to be a very different experience for you depending on where the person you are dating is from. A Hoosier, for example, is definitely an excellent choice. They are friendly, they love corn, they enjoy home-cooked meals, and they’re never afraid of a thunderstorm. Here are nine things you really should know before dating a Hoosier.

1. A little rain is not going to stop date night.

Depending on what state you happen to be from, a little rain shower might be enough for you to want to cancel the big date night you have planned. If you are dating a Hoosier, that is not going to happen. In Indiana, it is not uncommon for it to rain, snow, and get up to 90 degrees all in the same week. In fact, it is also normal for it to rain just about every day of the week! Rain is not going to stop date night for a Hoosier.
2. They will never tell you how many miles it is to the restaurant.

Hoosiers do not really measure distance by miles. They can, however, tell you how many minutes or hours it will take to get just about anywhere in the state.
3. They don’t really put up their winter clothing.

If you are someone who has a pet peeve about putting your winter and/or summer clothing up when the season is over, dating a Hoosier is not a good idea. Hoosiers do not see the point in putting their winter clothes up because you never really know when "winter" is over in Indiana.
4. A tornado or thunderstorm warning/siren will not phase them.

There really isn’t a better person to be dating than a Hoosier if you are scared of tornados or thunderstorms. Hoosiers are so used to the storm warning sirens going off once a week or several times a month, that it is not enough to scare them.
