My husband grew up in Kentucky (though he was born here) and he always comments on how annoyingly optimistic and chipper I am about just about everything. With so many great places to eat, job opportunities, and low cost of living – why shouldn’t Hoosiers be chipper? I did a little digging and found the cities where people tend to be the happiest based on income, crime rate, divorce rate, and places to eat. Here are 6 cities where you are guaranteed to find happy Hoosiers.
Carmel is a city you tend to either love or hate. Less than 6% of men and less than 9% of women in this city end up getting a divorce. Furthermore, less than 1% of individuals have to get up before 5AM to go to work. I don’t know about you, but that would make me very happy. Furthermore, they spend less than 20%of their income on rent/housing. Some people suggest the art and design district in the city is one of the big reasons why Carmel is so full of happy people.
It takes less than 20 minutes to get just about anywhere you want to go in the city of Goshen. Less than 20% of working individuals in the city have to get up before 5AM to go to work; and less than 15% of married individuals end up in a divorce. In Goshen, the average working individual spends less than 25%of their income on housing and/or rent. Despite not having to go to work early, Goshen is a city where you will notice a lot of people getting up and outside fairly early in the morning.

Crown Point is considered to be one of the safer cities in Indiana with a population of more than 20,000 people. Less than 5% of the working individuals have to get up before 5AM to head to work and they spend less than 21% of the income they earn on housing. Statistics show that less than 15% of females and less than 10% of males get a divorce in this city. Furthermore, your chances of being a victim of a crime in Crown Point are only about 1 in 4,000.
In the city of Fishers your chances of being a victim of a crime are 1 in almost 6,000. You can get just about anywhere in the city within a 30 minute drive regardless of where you are. Less than 2% of the working class has to get up before 5AM to get to work and they spend less than 19%of their income on housing expenses. Fishers is one of the largest cities to make this list not just because of its selection of dining establishments, but because of its low hosting costs, crime rate, and average household income.
It takes less than 25 minutes to get anywhere you could want to go in the city of Valparaiso. Statistics show that less than 6% of the working class has to get up before 5AM to start their day and they spend less than 22% of their income on housing expenses. The people here are so happy because the average income is roughly $50,000 and you're not going to have to pay an arm and a leg to be a homeowner in this city.
