Along State Road 40 in east-central Indiana, right along our border with Ohio, is a special little town that is home to more free attraction tours than anywhere else in the state. It all begins right here at the Old National Road Welcome Center.

The welcome center can be accessed just off Interstate 70 in Richmond. This is where you'll find brochures and passports detailing your free tours. Each is self-guided and is as much fun as you wish to put into it.

1. Antique Alley Trail #1

Richmond is such a cool and vintage small town that it has two antique trail tours. The first one has 29 stops that go into neighboring towns in Indiana and even Ohio. Depending on how long you like to shop, it may take you a couple of days just to complete this first tour.
2. Antique Alley Trail #2

Similar to the first one, this trail of antique stores spans into neighboring towns in Indiana and Ohio. There are 30 stops on this second tour, giving you a slightly longer option if you wish to see more places. You'll enjoy a mix of malls, homes, lodges, and other independent shops.

3. Chocolate Trail

This is certainly the sweetest of Richmond's self-guided tours. You'll definitely want to stop at the welcome center for a Chocolate Trail Passport first as the idea is to get it stamped as you visit each location. 4. Heartland Wine & Ale Trail

Enjoy up to 11 different wineries, vineyards, breweries, bars, and pubs when you take this exceptional tour around the Indiana and Ohio area. Each location offers something unique and special that you won't find anywhere else, and they are all known for their aesthetic. You're bound to find a new favorite place whether you like beer or wine when you take this tour.
5. Enchanted Fairy Trail

The town of Richmond is not only a place of history but also a place of whimsy. Many shops, cafes, gardens, museums, and other businesses have set up fairy dwellings around the town, and there is a brochure at the welcome center that details how to find them all.
6. Murals Trail

Last but certainly not least is a tour of some of Richmond's best art. There are more than 80 murals throughout the town that couple its whimsical souls with its historic past. Artists from as far away as Europe have traveled here to paint these vibrant works, helping the town win awards for its beauty.
