Let’s be honest; nobody makes donuts quite as well as Hoosiers. But sometimes, you’re just not sure where to find a great donut. There are tons of unique donut shops spread throughout the state, so here’s a list of some of the best places to get your donut on.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. 1. Square Donuts - Indiana (statewide)
This donut chain is Indiana's claim to donut fame. These square shaped delicacies will have your mouth watering instantly. Find them throughout the cities of Indianapolis, Carmel, Bloomington, Richmond, Terre Haute, and more.
2. Long's Bakery - Indianapolis
Just a few blocks north of Greenwood is Long's Bakery, a place where loyal guests will wait in long lines for a bite of heaven. Long's Bakery is so beloved, they even supply donuts for weddings and other receptions. Be prepared to wait a bit (worth it!) and make sure you have cash; cards are not accepted.
3. Cresent Donut Shops - Indiana (Statewide)
I warn you now, you won't be able to eat just one. Cresent Donuts is a staple in Indiana, and for good reason. They're also super affordable; you can generally get a dozen for under $10.
4. Jack's Donuts - Indiana (statewide)
Another statewide donut chain is Jack's Donuts, famous for their huge donuts with an assortment of toppings. You have to try Jack's at least once in your lifetime.
5. Donut Bank Bakery & Coffee House - Evansville
This awesome bakery has been supplying some of the most original donut creations to the southside of Indiana for years. From long johns to donut holes, the Bank is bound to have your donut of choice.
7. Mary Lou Donuts - Lafayette
For less than $8 per dozen, you'll get handmade apple fritters, crullers, Boston cream, tiger tails, and much more. If you're traveling through Lafayette, you have to give this donut joint a try. It's cash only though, so hit an ATM first, and then bask in this sugary goodness.
8. Donuts N Coffee - Columbus
This family owned donut shop is sure to please with their tasty traditional donut recipes. Their glazed yeast donuts and assortment of donut holes are beloved, as is their convenient drive-thru. Make sure you try their coffee as well; it's phenomenal. Don't swing by on Sunday though; they give their employees this day of rest.
9. Rocket 88 Doughnuts - Indianapolis
Rocket 88 Doughnuts is a craft donut shop in the Fountain Square district of Indy that prefers the classic spelling of "doughnuts." Their amazing artistic concoctions (including waffle donuts!) are just as delicious as they appear. Vegans rejoice! They have an extensive vegan menu to choose from.
9. Magic Morning Bakery - Bedford
Magic Morning Bakery makes mornings, well, magical. They always have a ton of interesting selections, including specialty donuts such as red velvet and icing filled birthday donuts. You have to give this local gem a taste.
10. Titus Bakery - Lebanon
This family owned donut shop has been in business since 1980. Titus is always expanding their menu and bringing new and intriguing flavors to the table. Of course they have the donut staples, as well. You'll have to try them for yourselves as many claim they have the best donuts in the state.
11. Tom's Donuts - Fort Wayne
This Fort Wayne staple sells out of their top donuts quickly, so stop in early in the morning for the best selection. Their glazed donuts and cinnamon rolls are top sellers, so try to snag one while you can.
12. West End Bakery - Mishawaka
This historic bakery has some of the best donuts near South Bend. Since the late 1920s, West End has been serving customers the finest donuts around, with a line out the door to prove it. Stand in that line, though...you'll thank me for it later. (Side note: cash only.)
13. Rainbow Bakery - Bloomington
This charming bakery churns out fantastic craft donuts in all types of unique flavors. From green tea to blueberry glazed to apple cider, you'll find an original donut to call your new favorite at Rainbow Bakery.
14. Linne's Bakery and Cafe - Shelbyville
This local bakery is known for their friendly service and old fashioned charm. Linne's is a community-centered bakery and you'll see popular state themed donuts, such as their race day donuts during the Indy 500 and holiday themed donuts throughout the year. If you ever find yourself near Shelbyville, do yourself a favor and stop in to visit Linne's.
15. Kinser's Bakery - Monticello
This awesome bakery is quite a secret in Monticello, likely because the locals want to keep Kinser's to themselves! For melt-in-your-mouth, warm donuts, you can't find anywhere better than Kinser's Bakery.
16. General American Donut Company - Indianapolis
Be forewarned; you won't leave with just one donut. General American Donut Co is a popular craft donut shop in downtown Indy that has mastered the fine art of donut making. Popular flavor include the maple bourbon bacon, raspberry key lime, the benny (part croissant, part donut), and their light, yet decadent coffee and cream donut. They also make top notch espresso beverages.
