Want to go on an awesome vacation but can’t take time off of work? No worries. This wonderful weekend trip in southern Illinois is just what the doctor ordered.

1. Start out your morning in a super way by exploring the land of Superman in Metropolis.

Make sure to explore the Superman museum, pose in front of the iconic Superman statue, and look for all things Superman around town.
2. Then get a great meal at Fat Edd's--you'll need your energy.

3. Your next stop will be Cypress Creek National Wildlife Refuge.

This refuge covers over 16,000 awesome acres.
4. Then head over to Cache River Natural Area.

Explore some of these amazing cypress trees by canoe.
5. Then tuck in for the night at Country Schemes Bed and Breakfast.

This gorgeous bed and breakfast is nestled on a third generation family farm.
6. After eating a big, filling breakfast, hike around Ferne Clyffe State Park.

This park has awesome rock features and rare flora and fauna.
7. Fill up on some phenomenal comfort food at the Vienna Diner.

It's been around for ages, and they've been making solid food for this community for a while now.
8. Check out the large cave off of the Ohio River with a 55 foot opening.

9. Take in the sunset at the Garden of the Gods.
