Here Is An Illinois Swimming Hole That Will Make Your Summer Epic

I hate to let everyone else know about one of Illinois’ best kept secrets, but it’s no fair to not let people know about this. Did you know that Illinois has a pretty awesome swimming home? I’m talking about the spillway at Kinkaid Lake.

1. The spillway is located at the end of Kinkaid Lake.

2. Lots of people perch on the three-level cascade.

3. You will definitely want to wear sandals to navigate the rocks.

4. Be careful: the surface can actually be pretty slippery.

5. And depending on rainfall, there can be a fairly strong current.

6. The fresh water pool is totally the best part.

7. But getting to this swimming hole is tricky.

8. Set your GPS to 1 Spillway Rd., Murphysboro. We'll see you there!
