Situated in the southwest suburbs of Chicago is a little-known eatery called The Shrimp Barn that is quirky and well-loved by those who are lucky enough to be familiar with its charm. While it's a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, this marvelous place has evolved since it opened in 2011 to become a beloved local tradition.
The interior of this seafood restaurant is vintage with simple, old-fashioned furnishings and country-like decor. The walls look antique, and the tables will remind you of your grandma's dining room.
When it comes to food, seafood is the most popular. Get anything grilled, sauteed, or fried. Shrimp comes in popcorn, regular, or jumbo, and you'll also find perch, tilapia, walleye, grouper, cod, catfish, scallops, frog legs, oysters, smelt, calamari, crawfish, octopus, and alligator.

The Shrimp Barn is open Monday through Saturday between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Staff will seat you after 9 p.m. if the lights are still on, and delivery is also available.
