These 5 Road Trips In Illinois Will Lead You To Places You'll Never Forget

It’s summer, so you know what that means: ROAD TRIP! Here are 5 different types of road trips you can take, and some of the things you can encounter on your trip.
Trip 1: Springfield
1. Take a visit to the capitol.
2. Check out one of the coolest libraries around: The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library.
3. Then go eat a horseshoe.
4. Pay your respects at Lincoln's Tomb.
5. Tour the Dana-Thomas House.
Trip 2: Galena
1. You can take a trolley around downtown.
2. Downtown is full of lots of interesting shops, from antiques to candy.
3. There are some really great fine dining restaurants.
4. You can kayak down the Mississippi River.
5. There is a slide you can go down that is over 2000 feet long and has views of the Mississippi River.
Trip 3: Chicago
1. Shop till you drop on Magnificent Mile.
2. Hang out at the unique park that is Millennium Park.
3. Go for a ride on the huge Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier.
4. Stand on glass as you're looking down on the street below at Willis Tower.
5. Relax on some of the best beaches in Illinois.
Trip 4: Fulton
1. You will be in awe over just how large this windmill is.
2. Fulton Dutch Days is totally the best festival ever, and, yes, you can walk in some wooden shoes.
3. The Windmill Cultural Center has even more windmills for you to see and learn about.
4. Heritage Canyon is a great park with historic buildings.
5. You'll get some pretty premium views of the Mississippi from the riverfront.
Trip 5: Shawnee National Forest
1. You'll get absolutely spectacular views from the 300 million year old bluffs.
2. While not huge, Burden Falls is still an impressive thing to witness.
3. And this is the view from Inspiration Point.
4. You'll find all sorts of flora and fauna you've never seen before.
