Christmas is always a special time of year when families get together and share some holiday cheer. It’s even better when your surroundings are so picture-perfect and fill you with Christmas Spirit. Spend this Christmas in Galena, Illinois where several holiday events will make for the best Christmas ever!
Galena is such a picturesque little town during the holiday season, with old brick buildings and snowy hills. It’s the perfect place for an old-fashioned Christmas.
Small events like Cheryl’s Favorite Things Holiday Bazaar, which takes place at the Three Elizabeths Guest House, provide locally made gifts, crafts, and delicious treats.
In late November, Galena celebrates the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus as they are carried down Main Street in the Jeep Jingle Parade, where lighted and decorated Jeeps bring them to the Old Market House, where kids can get a picture with Santa.
Inside, locals and visitors take part in the Luminaria Dinner at DeSoto House Hotel, where delicious food and live music are a great way to start the evening before heading out to enjoy a most beautiful sight.
Galena becomes aglow with luminary lanterns during Night of the Luminarias. Over 5,000 luminaries light up the town, lining the streets and windows. It’s the most beautiful Christmas spectacle.
