Here Are 10 MORE of The Most Dangerous Towns In Illinois To Live In
Apparently, one list didn’t do it. Turns out, there are lots of towns in Illinois where, according to the FBI, your chances of being the victim of violent crime is high (or higher than average). Let’s take a look at ten more dangerous Illinois towns:
An intellectual community and wonderful beach. What's not to love? Unfortunately, Evanston is a less safe town to live than 80% of the rest of the towns in Illinois.
Carbondale has been at or near the top for the most dangerous college town, and it is approaching one of the more dangerous towns period.
Crime was decreasing in Kankakee, but unfortunately, it's back up again. There were 1,468 crimes reported in 2014--an increase of 14%.
4. Granite City
Theft and narcotics have brought a rise to Granite City's crime rate in the past few years.
5. Rock Island
Good news: crime actually took a turn down this year. Bad news: still 995 criminal offenses.
Decatur, Illinois has a violent crime rate of 4.6 per 1,000 people.
Home to NIU, DeKalb has had some struggles with crime. Your chances of being the victim of violent crimes are about 1 in 188.
Quincy can be quaint, but it can also be violent. There was only one murder last year, though, so that's good news.
Slipping Jimmy isn't all you have to watch out for in Cicero. Cicero has over twenty gangs confirmed working the streets.
Crime isn't so good. But police are determined to stop it. In 2014 alone, there were 17 major drug busts.
Okay, so now that we’ve covered 20, are there any that we still missed? Let us know in the comments.
