Marie’s Pizza Has Been Owned By Generations Of The Same Family Since 1940 In Illinois
If we all know one thing about Illinois it’s that the state has some of the best pizza in the country. One place with incredible thin-crust pizza is Marie’s Pizza & Liquors, an old-school pizza parlor that’s been around since the 1940s. If you haven’t been here yet, you need to go!
Marie's has had a long history through several generations of the same family. The establishment first opened as a packaged goods store with a tavern in 1940 by Theodore Karavidas.
In 1948, his son George bought the business, adding pizza as an option for customers by 1950. Today, Marie's is still run by the same family and even has some of the same employees who have worked there for decades.
At Marie's Pizza and Liquor, you can expect to find a cozy atmosphere like that of a tavern. Customers consider it an old-school pizza parlor and it's the perfect place to grab a pie and a drink.
Marie's is best known for its crispy thin-crust pizza that can be customized with a variety of toppings. Order a 12-inch medium or a 14-inch large with your favorite veggies and meats. Double dough crust is also an option.
