In business since 1958, Santa's Village in northeast Illinois is a locally-known amusement park with roots that go back to sunny California. An original version of this unique holiday-themed attraction opened in San Bernardino County six weeks before Disneyland.
This Christmas theme park is open May through October each year and features a wealth of activities. The man who opened the place grew up without getting to celebrate this holiday due to extreme poverty and wanted to create a world where it could exist nearly every day.
The Chicagoland area was chosen for this amusement park due to it being the home of the World's Fair.
There are a plethora of rides at this park that will blow you away. Some are Christmas-themed such as the Snowball Ride, Kringle's Convoy, and Santa's Tree House Slide.
There is also the Alaskan Railway which may make you feel like you're on a summer version of the Polar Express. It's always Christmas at this unique amusement park.
Additional rides and attractions include games, roller coasters, a gift shop, and more. Favorites include bumper cars, the sea dragon, the carousel, tilt-a-whirl, Wacky Worm, and Balloon Race.
