Be In Awe Of The Frozen Idaho Landscape At Harriman State Park
The temperatures may be dropping and the snow has started to fall, but that doesn’t mean the adventures have to end. In fact, Idaho’s winter scenery is something every outdoor enthusiast should take some time to explore, especially because we’re home to so many stunning snow-covered destinations. One of the best destinations in the Gem State for jaw-dropping winter scenery is the one and only Harriman State Park. This incredible park boasts some downright breathtaking landscapes during the wintertime, and it’s a sight you simply have to see for yourself.
Tucked away in the eastern corner of our state near Island Park, Harriman State Park is a real gem that boasts unending scenic vistas and plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. It's a beautiful place to visit year round, but it's especially know for its winter scenery.
As winter makes an arrival, the eastern region of Idaho turns into a snowy wonderland. You won't find a shortage of jaw-dropping winter scenery here! However, it's Harriman State Park where you can experience the winter backcountry like never before.
Although definitely a popular summertime destination, Harriman State Park is slowly but surely making a name for itself when it comes to winter fun. Whereas other parks may shut down or go dormant for winter, Harriman makes it a goal to stay just as accessible and active when it comes to hosting visitors and events.
Additionally, the park offers a long list of fun winter attractions, the most popular being cross-country skiing. Harriman boasts over 25 miles of groomed trails for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing which stretch all over the pristine frosty landscapes.
A relatively recent addition to the park includes fat-biking. Introduced to the park for the first time just a couple years ago, Harriman became the first state park to offer such a thing. Although still new, this unique activity is seeing more participants with each season.
Currently, Harriman State Park has several upcoming events on the calendar. From group hikes through the snow to dutch oven cooking classes, there's always something to do at the park—no matter what time of year it is.
Many outdoor attractions go into hibernation once winter comes, but Harriman State Park is an exception. This beloved park not only boasts some of the best winter scenery, but a ton of fun things to do during this time of year as well.
