Located near Marsing, the trail to Jump Creek Falls takes you through the dramatic and beautifully rugged scenery of the Owyhee Wilderness. Best of all, the trail is nice and short, so you don't have to wait long to get to the gorgeous waterfall waiting for you at the end.
To find the trailhead from Boise, take I-84 west to the Nampa exit and hop onto Highway 55. Follow the highway through Marsing and onto the junction with US-95. Continue 1.5-miles, turn left on Cemetery Road, and left again at the stop sign. Continue until the road become Jump Creek Rd. and follow it to Jump Creek Recreation Area.
At just a half-mile long, the hiking trail is suitable for most everyone. Just be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen, as there's little shade along the trail until you get to the falls.
The trail is easy to follow and takes you straight to Jump Creek Falls—a 60-foot cascade that pours over the canyon wall and into a delightful swimming hole below. It's the largest waterfall in the canyon and it's definitely an awesome sight!
The pool at the base of the falls is perfectly refreshing and a much-needed respite on those hot summer days. Don't be afraid to toss off your shoes and take a dip. Be careful though and keep an eye out for poison ivy that's known to grow in some spots alongside the creek.
