10 Unwritten Rules Every Idahoan Lives By ‘Til Death
Here in Idaho, we have a very unique and set way of life. There’s no other state like us, so obviously there are going to be things that you should know if you’re going to live here. Most Idahoans will be able to identify with at least a few items on this list! See how many apply to you.
1. Always be prepared...for the weather, that is.
Idahoans know that the weather here can change in an instant. The daily weather forecast is more like a "suggestion," if you will.
2. As an Idahoan you will undoubtedly hear the same potato jokes or "U-da-hoe" jokes over and over....and over again. Just laugh politely and move on.
For some reason, people love to make the same old jokes when they learn that we are from Idaho. We've heard it all so much that the novelty has worn off (if it was even there in the first place).
3. Put an "Idaho" on it!
Shirts, hats, pillows, wall art...even tattoos! Idahoans are proud of their state and love showing that pride off any way they can.
4. Be nice. It's easy.
Idahoans are some of the nicest people you'll meet. It's a fact of life. If you have a problem with that, you probably don't belong here (but we'll make you feel welcome, anyway).
5. Take pride in your state. Never let anyone make fun of Idaho.
If you're not from Idaho, you can't make fun of Idaho. Plain and simple.
6. You will most definitely get stuck behind a tractor in traffic at some point in time. Just be patient.
This is a common sight that may leave non-Idahoans frustrated...but true Idahoans realize it's just something we have to deal with!
7. Know that Winter is never
Winter can show itself at any time here in Idaho. We've even had snowfall during the summer before! Snow is never a surprise for us.
8. Always be up for an adventure.
There's so much to see and explore here in the Gem State. Staying inside is simply something we aren't capable of. Part of living in such a beautiful state is exploring it!
9. Eat and buy local!
The only thing we love more than supporting our local farmers is indulging in freshly grown and harvested Idaho produce!
10. Pack out what you pack in. Leave our wilderness spaces as you found them!
Living in Idaho is such a gift. Idahoans realize that we are truly lucky to live in such a gorgeous state, and we like to keep it that way! True Idahoans know that the only way of exploring nature is leaving it in the same condition that you found it.
