The location is absolutely perfect for a relaxing getaway.
Hiding within a densely wooded spot along the western shore of Priest Lake is a delightful little campground that often goes unnoticed. Luby Bay Campground is situated right beside the lake and just a stone's throw away from sandy beaches that are utter paradise.
Northern Idaho's Priest Lake is loaded with amazing beaches. Some of them tend to get pretty crowded during the summer, such as the popular Priest Lake State Park on the eastern shore. However, you're bound to come across a secluded slice of shoreline if you look for it.
The beach area next to Luby Bay Campground is divine. Boasting white sandy shores that would rival any ocean beach, it provides a jaw-dropping view of the surrounding mountain vistas.
The most spectacular aspect of the beach is the lake itself. The crystal-clear blue waters seem to actually glisten in the sun. On a hot summer day, you could spend all day soaking in the lake.
The campground itself is filled with secluded campsites that are surrounded by dense thickets of trees. It's actually divided into two sections: Upper Luby and Lower Luby. Lower Luby is the campground that gives guests the option of waterfront sites.
Shaded by hemlock and cedars, you'll feel as if you've found your own private slice of Idaho. The campsites are nice and large, affording each guest a good amount of privacy.
The lake may be the highlight of the campground, but there are other treasures waiting to be explored in the area. Not far from the campground is the lovely little Luby Bay Cabin which houses the Priest Lake Museum.
During the late 19th century, the logging industry played an important role at Priest Lake. The museum contains several artifacts, photos, and interviews pertaining to the region's early days. It makes for an interesting stop to say the least!
