Spend The Night In A Giant Potato In Idaho For An A-Peeling Overnight Experience
As Idahoans, we are used to having our state automatically associated with potatoes. But we have to admit there is certainly some truth in our state’s relationship to this iconic food. Most Idahoans have a borderline unhealthy obsession with potatoes—in every form that it takes—and now you can even
sleep inside of one! A new “potato hotel” was just unveiled and will start welcoming visitors in the upcoming weeks. For an authentic Idaho experience that’s bound to make an impression, consider spending a few nights in this wacky potato B&B.
If there's one thing that Idaho is known for, it's potatoes, and we've definitely learned to take it in good humor. The Potato Hotel is just the newest example of our loving bond with potatoes, and it looks like an amazing place to stay.
Now listed on Airbnb and open for reservations at the end of May, the giant "potato" weighs six tons and traveled all across the country for the Idaho Potato Commission.
Lovingly referred to as "The Big Idaho Potato", it spent six years on the road promoting our state's most famous crop. After a job well done on tour, the potato was retired and replaced with a new one. But what else is there to do with a six-ton potato?
Kristie Wolfe had a fantastic idea to turn the potato into an Airbnb rental. At 28-feet long and 12-feet wide, it makes for a cozy place to stay for potato-loving vactioners. Additionally, it's the perfect way for out-of-state visitors to experience The Potato State!
The potato is adorably decorated on the inside. It includes a queen-sized bed, two chairs, a small sink, an elk antler chandelier, an indoor fireplace, and heating and A/C. A bathroom is located in a separate unit and comes with a corrugated steel tub, walk-in shower, sink, and toilet.
Surrounded by 400 acres of farmland in Boise, the Potato Hotel couldn't be in a more fitting location. The only thing nearby is the National Guard training facility and the Union Pacific Railroad. You don't have to worry about nosy neighbors, that's for sure.
A night spent at the Potato Hotel is bound to be something you tell friends and family about for years to come. Yes, it's completely wacky, but that's exactly why we love it so much. Book your stay
