Its high elevation is one of the things that makes visiting Lake Cleveland such an exciting adventure, but it also means the lake is only accessible from around June through October due to snow. However, one the roads clear, the area officially turns into a hot spot of summer recreation!
To find the lake, take Interstate 84 to Exit 216 near Declo. From here, follow Idaho 77 south for 18 miles before turning right onto Howell Canyon Road. Turn right again at the Pomerelle ski area sign. After a steep climb and 3,600-feet in elevation change, you'll spot the entrance for Lake Cleveland on the right.
The high-elevation beauty of the Albion Mountains is unlike anything you've experienced before and it makes for the perfect backdrop to all of your favorite lake activities. Fishing, kayaking, and swimming are all popular forms of recreation during the summer months.
A single day may not be enough to truly enjoy this spectacular region, so consider spending the weekend at one of the lake's campsites. There are two separate camping areas on either side of the lake and overnight use is typically around $8-$10 per spot. Both RV and tent camping are available.
