Located in Hayden, English Point is a small but beautiful recreation area that provides views of both forest and lake via a family-friendly trail system.
Tucked along the west side of Hayden Lake, English Point is just minutes away from town but it still manages to make you feel far away from it all. Its trail system consists of two main loop trails - the Red Loop and the Yellow Loop - along with a handful of shorter versions of each trail.
The Red Trail is the shortest of the two at just 1.6-miles. It's open mainly for hikers, with some access for horses. The wide path winds through the woods, treating hikers to views of the gorgeous lake through the treetops.
Considering it's not even two-miles-long, the Red Trail is great for a quick stroll through the forest. It even boasts a handful of benches and a viewing platform for stopping to take in the forest's beauty.
The Yellow Trail is a bit longer at 3.4-miles-long. It's open to all non-motorized traffic, which includes mountain bikes. This trail passes by several clearings in the forest, which grant views of the surrounding fields and farmland.
While exploring English Point, you'll come across several boardwalks, a pond, tree stumps, and many signs of wildlife. It's a wonderful place to take the kids for a few hours and appreciate the majestic beauty of nature in North Idaho!
We're pretty lucky to always have such gorgeous natural areas nearby that are just waiting to be explored. The next time you feel like a walk in the woods, check out the family-friendly trails at English Point.
