One of the most scenic waterfalls in Idaho is tucked away in the very tip-top portion of the panhandle. Located in Boundary County north of Bonners Ferry, Copper Falls is easy to access and incredibly beautiful.
To get to the falls you'll head north on Highway 95. You'll turn right onto road #2517 after crossing the Moyie River. You'll find the trail to the waterfall approximately two miles down the road.
Once you arrive at the trailhead, you'll see that the "hike" to get to the waterfall is more like a stroll. You'll walk along a well-maintained trail that leads you into the woods. It's very flat with almost no elevation gain, making it great for families with children.
It isn't long before you're swept into the beauty of the Kootenai National Forest. Dense thickets of trees surround you and you'll feel totally immersed in the beauty of the forest. It's completely quiet except for the light sounds of the rushing creek nearby.
There are several picturesque spots on the way to the waterfall that you'll definitely want to snap a picture of. The sight of a lovely little bridge over the creek is like something out of a storybook.
The sound of rushing water will get louder and louder as you approach the waterfall. The walk to the waterfall is approximately 0.3-miles which will take you around 10 minutes or so. We told you it was easy!
There's a wonderful overlook spot that is perfect for viewing the waterfall. Copper Falls is about 150-feet high, making it one of the tallest in all of Idaho. It may not have the mass of some of our state's other waterfalls, but it's breathtaking nonetheless.
It's hard to believe such an extraordinary waterfall requires such a short jaunt to see it. It just goes to show that there's always adventure to be had here in Idaho, no matter how big or small.
