The Idaho Snake River Canyon Rim Trail Is Officially One Of The Best Sunset Hikes In America
Idaho’s sunsets are breathtaking. One of the best ways to enjoy these evening skies is on a beautiful hike. While there are dozens of hikes all across the state where you can capture some extraordinary sunsets, the popular publication Travel + Leisure recently named Idaho’s Snake River Canyon Rim Trail as one of the best sunset hikes in America. We aren’t surprised as this trail is gorgeous regardless of the time of day, but during the golden hour, it really shines.
The Snake River Canyon Rim Trail is an out-and-back trail near Twin Falls that you'll want to explore.
While the majority of this trail is easy and flat, be prepared for a few inclines. If using a wheelchair or pushing a stroller, these areas can become a bit challenging. Fortunately, there are picnic tables and benches all along this trail where you can rest and enjoy the views around you.
This trail takes you along the gorgeous Snake River Canyon and it is the perfect location for an evening stroll or a morning run. Don't be surprised when you see many people hiking, running, and cycling on your adventure.
The Perrine Bridge is one of the most majestic bridges in Idaho. This bridge is 1,500-feet long and is a popular place to see BASE Jumpers.
The Snake River Canyon Rim Trail will also take you past the striking Shoshone Falls. These falls are 212-feet tall and 900-feet wide, even taller than Niagara Falls!
You can always access the Snake River Canyon Rim Trail from Shoshone Falls Park. Make sure to bring your camera and visit all of the viewpoints in this area.
Shoshone Falls isn’t the only waterfall you will see from this paved path. Keep your eyes open for some large cascades — they are stunning!
