We may have pretty warm weather throughout most of the year here in Louisiana, at least compared to other states. Snow in Louisiana is rare, with a yearly average of only .2 inches. But we certainly still have a love for the different seasons! We’ve got pumpkin patches and fall foliage, just like snowier states, and of course we’re filled with Christmas lights and holiday drive-thru displays throughout November and December. No matter the time of year, there’s always something to celebrate in Louisiana.

Did you know that Louisiana is home to the nation's largest garden dedicated to roses? The Gardens of the American Rose Center are located just outside of Shreveport on a 118-acre wooded lot. There are over 20,000 rose bushes here in over 100 varieties. There are plenty of flowers in Louisiana, but we don't know of anywhere else you can go and see this many.

Does anywhere do summer better than Cajun Country? The brutal heat can be a real drag, but nothing will lift your spirits like a visit to one of the many water parks in Louisiana. One that we really love is Liberty Lagoon in Baton Rouge. It's great fun for the whole family and boasts water slides, wading pools, and even a surfing simulator!

One thing that definitely belongs on your summer bucket list is a float trip down a river in Louisiana. With all of our amazing rivers and bodies of water, it's a fantastic place to kick back and relax on a tube and just let the water take you. One trip we are particularly fond of is one of the longest in the state, a float trip down the Bogue Chitto River. Louisiana River Adventures offers multiple hour trips down this scenic winding river.

Our temperatures tend to not dip too much in the fall, but that doesn't mean we don't know how to celebrate the season! There's nothing that encompasses the joy of autumn quite like picking your own pumpkins, and there are plenty of places in Louisiana to do it. Mrs. Heather’s Pumpkin & Strawberry Patch in Hammond is an annual tradition for many Louisianans. This fun-filled spot has a petting zoo, hay mazes, rides, and tons of fun characters, but the real draw is the pumpkin patch.

Louisiana may not be your first thought for places to check out fall foliage, but we actually have many places with gorgeous leaves. Our leaves tend to turn a little later than most parts of the country, so ideally you'll want to wait till late October or November to head out. Most of the prettiest colors are in the northern part of the state, and there are plenty of state parks you can check out to see the leaves turning!

Even though there might not be much of a chill in the air, Louisiana still knows how to celebrate fall! We've got plenty of awesome corn mazes to get lost in. CM Farms in Dry Creek is a watermelon and cantaloupe farm, so you may think that summer is their busiest time of year, but they go all out in the fall. Their 12-acre corn maze gets a new design each year. There's plenty of fun activities for kids, as well, including a smaller maze.

New Orleans is kind of a spooky place throughout the year: we've got all those legends about voodoo and hauntings. But come October, the entire city transforms into a Halloweentown like no other. Louisiana is loaded with amazing holiday drive-thru light spectacles. One that we really love is the Natchitoches Christmas Festival of Lights. This six-week celebration has been bringing Christmas cheer to Cajun Country since 1927. With live music, fireworks, lights, and craft fairs, there's so much to do here. This is one of the oldest holiday celebrations in the country.
