Welcome to Papaoneone Beach, an underrated gem on Oahu’s west side sure to impress. Though this beach isn’t as popular as some of the others you’ll find along this stretch of coastline, it is quite striking, to say the least.
Fine, white sand contrasts amazingly with the crystalline turquoise water and at the south side of the beach, you will find Mauna Lahilahi — a small mountain that provides a breathtaking backdrop — as well as two condominiums.
Commonly known as Turtle Beach after the Hawaiian green sea turtles who enjoy feeding on the seaweed that grows on the offshore reef, you’ll find more than just turtles at this Oahu beach.
Remember to keep your distance: getting too close to Hawaii's marine life is illegal.
Because this stunning stretch of sand is easily missed when driving along Farrington Highway because it’s not visible from the road, you might find that Papaoneone feels like a private paradise made just for you.
The surf can get high in the winter, and summer often brings strong currents and shore break, so be sure to check the surf reports before you head out and make a splash.
