Only The Brave And Experienced Will Ever Venture To Oahu’s Tallest Peak, Mount Kaala

While the crystalline turquoise waters and fine white sand beaches of the Hawaiian Islands invite you in, it is the majestic mountains that keep you coming back for more. And though we love admiring the towering mountains of Hawaii from afar, there’s little better than getting up close and personal with these surreal summits. Unfortunately, only brave and experienced hikers will ever get to enjoy the tallest point on Oahu: Mount Kaala, Why? Because it’s only accessible via a strenuous day hike that is not for novice hikers or anyone with a fear of heights.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:

Have you ever hiked Mount Kaala? Is it on your bucket list or do you just admire the photographs from afar? While Mount Kaala might be the tallest peak on Oahu, the highest mountain in all of Hawaii is Mauna Kea, and you can drive to the summit along the Mauna Kea Access Road.
