This Seafood Restaurant Right By The Water Serves Some Of The Tastiest Dishes In Hawaii

Hawaii has a vast assortment of excellent seafood restaurants, but sometimes you want a place that’s truly special. Mala Ocean Tavern is an award-winning restaurant right on the water.

Mala Ocean Tavern is pretty unassuming on the outside, but it has one of the best views on Maui. You'll find it at 1307 Front Street, Lahaina, HI 96761.

For the best view, sit on the patio. You'll be literally feet from the ocean.

Enjoy your meal while you watch the boats come and go, and keep an eye on the waves right below you - this is a popular spot for sea turtles.

If you don't want to sit on the patio, ask for an oceanside table in the dining room. The view is still pretty amazing.

What makes this oceanfront view even better? A stunning Hawaiian sunset, of course.

The view here is truly incredible, but the seafood dishes on the menu are just as amazing. The ceviche is fresh and full of flavor.

For a truly unique meal, give the house specialty a try. It's a whole wok-fried fresh opakapaka, which is locally-caught and prepared with ginger garlic black bean sauce, shiitakes, tomatoes, carrots, snap peas and rice or potatoes.

Another popular menu item is the Avalon Seared Ahi Sashimi. It's perfectly-prepared and served alongside potato puree and shiitake mushroom ginger sauce.

Ask your server about the market fish of the day. It's locally caught, then pan seared and served with potato puree, garlic spinach, roasted eggplant and tomato cream sauce.

Try a pound of steamed Manilla clams, tossed in a ginger garlic black bean sauce and served with grilled pita bread.

You won't want to leave without dessert; the bread pudding here is legendary.
