The Hawaiian Islands are home to 750 miles of stunning coastline — putting the island state behind Alaska, Florida, and California when it comes to coastline length. And while among that coastline you will find countless rock formations and sea cliffs, the beaches are what truly matters. And though Waikiki Beach is great for tourists staying at the area’s oceanfront hotels, today we’re heading to a famous beach on the opposite island of Oahu that will make you feel a million miles away from it all. Bonus: it’s famous for its appearance in the television hit, Lost.

On television from 2004 to 2010, Lost followed the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 when they crashed on a lush, mysterious island. Though the island was fictional, many of the scenes were filmed right here on Oahu, and there is perhaps no filming location more iconic than this one.

Nestled along Oahu’s north shore near Haleiwa, this stunning stretch of fine, white sand known as is quite rocky, but the tide pools, towering trees, and vibrant turquoise waters make it a must-visit.

After parking in the residential area, and walking down this beach access path, turn left to continue to the location of the Lost survivors beach camp. The spot is unmarked, though diehard fans of the show should be able to recognize it.

Though this beach is not ideal for swimming due to the rocky shoreline and heavy surf, it is an excellent spot for a long walk, a relaxing afternoon spent lounging in the sand, or just a quick visit on your way to or from Haleiwa.
