Held on Thursday, February 25, the Quicksilver In Memory Of Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational is perhaps the largest event in the world of professional surfing. The competition requires waves of more than 20 feet (with 40 foot faces) to run, and the conditions have to be absolutely perfect. The invitational has a holding period each year from December 1 through February 28, and 2016 was the first year the event was held since 2009.

And while we’re used to seeing surfers tear up the waves on Oahu’s north shore during this period, we don’t necessarily expect to see Jet Skis racing the waves. This drone footage, shot by Natasha Torcuato, features some epic Jet Ski action at the Eddie sure to drop your jaw.

What did you think of this footage? Are you daring enough to tackle 20-foot waves on a Jet Ski?
